150 Silk Squares—  Each silk—part of a commissioned Conscious Collection— is unique and holds the vibration of a particular Ray of Consciousness:

Orange: The Crystalline Orange Ray assists us in expanding the abilities of the conscious mind (the color is given by Sappanwood, a plant native to India, and Alkanet, a root growing throughout Europe, Asia and Africa).

Blue: The Indigo Ray of Divine Presence fosters Peace and Hope (the color is given, of course, by indigo, a plant-based dye originally exported from India).

Yellow: The Yellow-Gold Ray facilitates focus and triggers the consciousness of Love (the color is given by Reseda, a plant used to heal bruises in Roman times).

Pink: The Pink Ray of Love-Wisdom holds a vast feminine energy and represents the Divine Mother (the color is given by Cochineal, a dye provided by female Dactylopius coccus beetles, which feed on the prickly pear cacti native to South and Central America).

“When Pobal Ar A’n lùl first approached me about illustrating three stories from the Mid-Tyrone Gaeltacht, I was over the moon. Folktales are essential to our lives. They teach us about strength, love, loss, and fighting for what we believe in. The use of black and white in the drawings aims to express the intrinsic nature of the Celtic realms and their ‘otherness’— dark and light carry the full weight (or lightness) of ancestral magic and the musicality of the language. Words are shape-shifting all the time, like the light and the weather. As a student of Gaelic, Irish is unique in that it seems to have been hewn from the island itself. An Ireland of landscape, of grass and heather and acorns, mountains, lakes, cliffs, and horses and hares, and laughter and weeping, and myths. In these drawings I wish to undertake the recovery and reawakening of lost bliss from which the images bring us back to memories, associations, and the ‘otherness’ of a new light.”
